(AIRS)
Every day someone in the community needs essential
services, from finding child-care programs or assistance with
elderly family members, to disaster assistance. In many cases,
people do not know where to call for help, and may go without
services because they do not know where to begin.
2-1-1
is an easy to remember
telephone number that connects people with important community
resources. While
services vary from community to community, callers may receive
information about:
Basic
Human Needs: food banks,
clothing, shelter, housing assistance
Physical
and Mental Health Resources:
medical information lines, crisis services, support groups,
counseling, drug and alcohol intervention, child and maternal
health programs, health insurance programs
Employment
Support: unemployment benefits,
financial assistance, job training, educational programs,
transportation assistance
Support
for Older Americans or Persons with Disabilities: home
health care, day care, Meals on Wheels, respite care,
transportation assistance
Support
for Youth and Families: Quality
child care, Head Start, family resource centers, summer camps,
