Job Description: |
Co-Teach a classroom of 16 – 20 existing 2nd,
3rd, and 4th Grade students who
have been identified as "at-risk" for
reading difficulties. Teachers will be responsible for
a total of 32 - 40 students. 16 - 20 will attend an
early morning session for 1 hr and 45 min; the
teachers will have a short prep period; and then a
second group of 16 - 20 students will attend a late
morning session. Candidates must commit to 16 hours of
planning and classroom preparation, attending weekly
planning meetings, and utilizing structured and
systematic instructional methods to teach; phonemic
awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency and open
response writing. Teachers will also be responsible
for writing an evaluation of their students to be
distributed at the last class.

Time Commitment: |
4 weeks of instruction: July 14th –
August 7th Monday – Thursday 8:00 –
1:00, (20 hrs per week), Staff Development days
including 1 hour per week and 4 hrs at the end of
June, and one evening meeting to introduce the parents
to the program. (Remaining time to be scheduled)

Job Description: |
Each assistant will work in a classroom with 2
staff members. There will be two sessions each day
running from 8:30 – 10:15 and from 10:45 – 12:30.
Responsibilities include interacting with students
throughout the day, leading small group activities
(typically led by the classroom teacher), and helping
to monitor students during arrivals and dismissals.
Assistants will also share some responsibilities with
the classroom teacher such as classroom maintenance
and prep work. (cutting, photocopying, getting
homework packets ready each day and keeping track of
returned assignments and attendance). In addition,
teaching assistants will be asked to participate in 4
hours of training at the end of June. (Date to be
determined).
