Dear Parent/Guardian:

The state has mandated that all members of the Class of 2010 must pass a science MCAS as part of the graduation requirement from high school. This assessment will be administered at Mansfield High School on Tuesday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 4. Your son/daughter completed the study of Biology during the first semester of this school year. That course ended for him/her at the end of January.

Many students have expressed concern about reviewing for this important assessment. In response to this concern the MHS science department will conduct two evenings of review sessions for students who want to avail themselves of this opportunity. These review sessions will help students prepare for the Biology MCAS. We plan to hold these sessions on Wednesday, May 28 and Thursday, May 29 from 6:00-8:00 in the evening.

If your son/daughter would like to participate in these sessions we ask that you fill out the response at the bottom of this letter. We need to know how many students will be there so that we can plan accordingly. Please ask your child to return the response to any science teacher by Friday, May 16.

Sincerely:

Jim Perry, Science Chairman
