The philosophy of the school counseling office is to provide an open and welcoming environment for all students, staff, parents and caregivers.

Our mission is to work collaboratively with students and families, forming strong connections and supporting students through their high school career. Counselors are advocates and work with MHS faculty to best meet the needs of our students. Students remain with the same school counselor for all four years.  Our school counselors work within three domains to serve our students: Academic, Career & College, and Social Emotional.  We are a resource for students and parents/caregivers for information and to address any areas of concern.

The department's goal is to assist each student in achieving MHS’s vision of a graduate and become empowered learners, communicators, innovators and active citizens within their communities.  Our approach includes helping students to develop strong self-advocacy skills, find balance, build resiliency, and identify areas of personal growth. By developing these skills students can achieve personal success with social emotional development, academics, extracurricular activities and post secondary planning.
