English Language Learners
English Language Learners (ELLs) referred to as Multilingual Language Learners (MLLs) in Mansfield Public Schools are among the most diverse student groups in Massachusetts and across the nation, representing a range of cultural, linguistic, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds. They bring their school communities a wealth of cultural and linguistic assets, as well as additional cognitive, social, emotional, political, and economic potential.
English Learner Parent Advisory Council (ELPAC)
The mission of the Mansfield ELPAC is to promote the education and integration of students who are English Learners with a focus on ensuring quality of education, socialization, and cultural interaction. ELPAC gathers concerns from families and presents them to the appropriate district and state administrators. The ELPAC works with district administrators responsible for the ELE (English Learner Education) program to identify systemic problems and to develop, implement, and evaluate improvement plans. Mansfield ELPAC also seeks to serve as a united voice for students who are learning English as an additional language and their families.
