National History Day Competition
On Sunday March 16th, four Mansfield High School students attended the South Shore District History Day Competition at Foxboro High School. Massachusetts History Day is the state program for National History Day that strives to help students become better prepared and more knowledgeable citizens through the creation of historical projects. On Sunday, two entries were vying to advance to the state competition.
Each entry was based on historical research done by the students and must relate to this year's theme, which is Rights and Responsibilities. These students presented their work to the judges and were asked on-the-spot interview questions about their products. Students were assessed on their historical content, relation to theme, as well as the quality of their project.
In the Group Documentary category, Ben Hubbard, Aditya Sandhu, and Reyansh Srivastava competed with their project titled “Beyond the Lab: Breaches of Rights and a Lack of Responsibility for Unit 731.”
In the Individual Documentary category Britney Quan competed with her project titled “The Forgotten Holocaust: The Rape of Nanjing.” Britney’s project received a medal making her eligible to advance to the State Competition on April 12th at Winchester High School. Students who are successful at the state competition will represent Massachusetts at the National History Day Finals, June 8-13, at the University of Maryland.
Congratulations to everyone!

Congratulations to Coach Mike Redding on earning his 300th career win as the head coach of the football team. Coach Redding has been a staple in Mansfield for over 35 years and it was exciting to see him get his 300th victory against our longtime rivals Foxboro on Thanksgiving Day. We all hope for victory 301 on Friday, December 6 at 8pm when the football team plays North Attleboro for the Division 3 State Championship. Congratulations again to Coach Redding!
